I Wonder Why It Smells Like Burning Plastic??
A few months ago, just when it was starting to get cold, we turned the fireplace on for the first time. After a several minutes had passed, there was a terrible smell, not really a gas smell, but a smell that was enough to make you think you probably shouldn't have it on. So I gave up on the idea of having a working fireplace and that was that.
Then, as I was completing the last few items on my "house to home" project (getting rid of all the bright ugly gold hardware on the main level) I solved the mysterious burning smell. To paint the fire place, I had to take the top part of it off, and you'll never guess what I found... The top to my orange juice carafe, which had been missing for several months. I vaguely remember Aidan playing with it, but never in a million years thought he would manage to shove it into the top of the fireplace (which also brings back to mind the time I found one of his *missing* shoes in a freezer compartment). So I'm just thrilled to be able to use the fireplace but also sad about my carafe top.

My fun filled birthday month is coming to an end...
Thanks to everyone for making it absolutely wonderful!! I love my bracelet, the treadmill, the personalized stickie notes, the santa and penguin sleigh, the lunch and dinner celebrations and of course, my zebra print snuggie.

Shocko Milk Peese
Steve's day is never complete without a large glass of chocolate milk and sometimes he adds a few cookies. Lately, Aidan has been following suit - he wants his chocolate milk right after he wakes up from his nap and usually after dinner too (especially when he sees that Daddy is having some). My boys L-O-V-E their chocolate milk.

He Loves Kung Fuuuuuu!
I'm thinking we may need to start counting the number of times we watch Kung Fu Panda; every time we ask Aidan what movie he wants to watch (and also when we don't), he says "Pana Moowee". Despite the number of times he seen this though, he still watches intently and gets excited when Po falls from the sky and when he is fighting Tai Lung. He also says "fuuuuuuuu" with his head up as well.

Our First *Official* Family Trip
San Francisco Here We Come! Our first real family vacation had its ups and downs, but overall it was a lot of fun and will not be forgotten.
Ups:
- The flight with the first time flyer was perfect. Aidan fell asleep soon after we took off and woke up right before we landed.
- Our hotel was very nice - it had a great restaurant, pool, comfy bed and backed to a walking trail.
- We ate at some great places:
- Sears Fine Foods (world famous for their little pancakes)
- Ghirardelli Square
- And this yummy italian place, Piazza Pellegrini
- We had GREAT seats at the game - first row!
Downs:
- We had to wait an hour for our rental car, the time was quickly passed with the help of our favorite train and hellicopter, Thomas and Harold.
- Our rental car (with carseat and gps) was towed and impounded. (Note for future trips - read all signs!)
- Steve had to yell at a Chivas fan for dancing in front of us.
- I thought Aidan could wear a water diaper and be okay for an hour or two...

Aidan has been fake sneezing whenever he hears someone else sneeze. The sneezes actually sound real too. It's so cute, we can't help but encourage it by saying "bless you" every time.
